Driftcon 1 Final Results

Ok so Driftcon 1 went down and we had some unexpected results. JustSIDEways (aka Imperious Leader) placed 2nd at the Driftcon event. He was beaten by one point after many consistent runs. That makes 3 people in the Sac Drift group to make a great showing in competitions around California. I don’t want to forget all of the others who were with them either. Kudos to everyone who went to the comps.

I also have to congratulate DJ722 from HyperDrift who put the whole thing together. Pete of Fast Pace Racing who loaned his shop out for the event and everyone else who helped, comped or spectated. It was a blast. Others who attended the meet were WJD, DDJ, and J-M250 from Kyokuro Project. I was also one of the competitors but you wouldn’t have known it since I broke down before I got any time in the pressure cooker. Oh and I don’t want to hear a damn thing about it. I blame it all on the Mustang body that I used. Acted just like an American car.

Anyway it was a damn good time. We all had a chance to finally see what we were up against. The odd thing about the comp was that it seems like no one was ready for the track surface. Everyone had tuned for a slick surface that wouldn’t have any grip but it turned out that the floor was covered with that cement paint that is used in alot of hardware shops. The stuff was grippy as hell and very hard to tune for. This if nothing else evened the playing field by quite alot. No one was prepared for having that much grip for this event.Made for an interesting evening since no one had ever drifted this surface before.
