1:TEN Sacramento Drift Network

1:TEN Sacramento Drift Network

Hey, Welcome to the blog for 1:TEN Sacramento Drift Network. We have been down for a while but it has been reactivated. It has been around a year since the inception of what would be 1:TEN-S.D.N. and we just made it through our first big event. The event consisted of a competition some practice time and lots and lots of hanging out in a park on a great cool day and relaxing. This meet although we did have our first competition was more symbolic and less serious. There were trophies to be had and respect to be earned.

The old Drift 916 site is gone now as after the name change and all of the upgrades that have happened I figured it was time to start over. We are now 1:TEN - S.D.N. (Sacramento Drift Network). I also cut out the tech site as it has been absorbed into the forum. Moving our site from Drifter Central to here was a bit of work but it went better than we could have hoped for. We lost some of our contacts due to the move but gained a bunch more in the process.

The site itself has been divided into three parts for now. The Blog (Our main page which is meant for the rest of the universe), Our Forum (Meant for the members to meet and exchange information) and Chat (Meant for the same as the Forum but is actually meant to take some of the stress off of the forum). So far it all seems to be working just fine.

On this site you will see what we do and who we are. If you decide to stay then you will have to go to http://drift916.5gigawattlizard.info/forum/ and register. After this is done you must introduce yourself on the Introductions Forum at which point we will activate your account. This process keeps spammers out and makes sure that only those in the area are using the space. Its not that we don’t want to hear from others it is just too much for the forum to handle if we let everyone in.

On that note Please enjoy the site and we hope that you will find RC Drift appealing enough to start the hobby for yourself.

Event: April 25th 2009, William Land Park

Ok, we had our first big event recently which was held at William Land Park in Sacramento. Justsidewayz had gotten the permit well in advance as he had fallen in love with the spot since we first looked at it. It ended up being a very cool spot for drift. There was a good expanse of smooth concrete with a decent amount of grip and a stand on one side that is perfect as a drivers stand. Now get this, there are 2 covered electrical outlets that the city accidentally left unlocked! JOY!

So anyway Justsidewayz and a few others showed up before 8am to set up. Justsidewayz brought a leaf blower plus his DJ setup for music while we practiced. As the morning went on the track was set up and people brought food, tables, chairs, tools, electrical cabling and so on. The event was constructed before our eyes as the day went on. Not only did we have an abundance of drivers but their families came as well. In total I would say we had about a good twenty people (drivers and family) before the morning finished.

As the day went on we also gathered some other people who just happened along or were participating in another meeting in the park. It was great to meet people who were interested who had never seen this kind of thing before.

The day was about 60-70 degrees all day and the food was plentiful and good. Mostly burgers and hot dogs although DoinItMovin’s girlfriend prepared what she called Lumpia for the rest of us. Thank you Mercel.

At the end of the day we finally had our competition. It was fun and we all learned something I think. Not only the drivers but the judges as well. Justsideways and MCtrlSys judged the meet. THe competition went fairly smoothly with only a few mechanical stops along the way. At the end of the day the winners were

The winners were driving the following cars. Robsracing was driving a Team Losi XXX-S. Datsun710 was driving an HPI Sprint 2. Finally WallysWorld was racing a Team Associated TC3. Congratulations to all of you. All of the competitors did exceptionally and Justsidewayz and MCtrlSys made symbolic runs for the sake of it. Justsideways came up with a score of 17 and MCtrlSys a 2. Since they were judging they refrained from competing.

MCtrlSys also spent alot of his time doing maintenance for the competitors on the sidelines. Fortunately we were able to pull off the competition with only minor pauses.

Overall the day went better than anyone had expected. All of the conditions couldn’t have been better and it was a great time. We hope to do it again sometime in the near future.
