JDMBuck shows that Drifting isn’t just for the criminally insane anymore. Not only does this shell look amazing but the bikes really show a creative bent. This is an amazing body and I am sure we will be seeing more from JDMBuck soon.

It seems during one of our recent practices that one of our members (WallysWorld) took it apon himself to see just how much abuse a standard Team Associated TC3 Chassis could take. So what did he do you ask? Did he logically progressively start driving it faster and through more intense sessions? Did he use sensors and computers to measure the stress being put on the chassis during a race? No to both. No, what he did was launch the chassis at full speed off of a 4 story parking garage! What was the result you ask? Well beyond Wally’s heart exploding in his chest and soiling himself the car landed and just kept on going. DAMN! Next time you decide to test a chassis like this you really should give us all some warning eh?
Well it looks like the Hobbytown Demo went off without a hitch.
Given there were no models other than the glue together kind but it was still fun. We drifted out there from about 8am to 5 or
6pm. We actually outlasted the swap meet by at least 4 hours. A number of different people showed up and as always were utterly fascinated by the fact that these little cars were acting in total denial of the laws of physics. People apparently cant quite fathom that cars can drive sideways. As always the major fans of our demo were the kids who came by. For some reason the hobby totally enthralls all children. Kinda like Gamera. The Folsom area allthough it was a great demo is still a bit off-road centric which I can understand given the area. Given that fact we really sold nothing that we were trying to sell at the swap meet. Oh well back to ebay and craigslist. Overall as Justsidewayz noted this demo was “Off The Hook” (I hate ebonics). I just hope that our next demo is a car show because I really miss the models.

Well it kinda snuck up on us. One year ago (August 30th 2008) 3 guys got together to drift. Little did any of them know that a year later we would be going as strong as we are. In one year we gained many practice locations, did two exhibitions for car shows, one TV spot, Have met individuals from 3 other clubs (Drift EZ, Team Redline & Colorado Drift), and have grown membership wise by leaps and bounds. Hell we even got one of the hobby shops here to accept us and start bringing in drift parts. And you know what? We had a damn good time doing it! We would like to thank everyone who put up with us along the way. To PXRacing/Takastyle, the Phatephex Girls, Endless Motoring, Drift EZ, all of the people who own our practice spots, Channel 31, and especially all of our wives and girlfriends who dealt with our obsession. What now? Well I guess we will just keep doing what we are doing and take it as it comes. We have arrived.

Well, another car show has come and gone. I apologize that I haven’t written anything about this meet for a while
. We weren’t all there that day as it was the Forth of July and a number of the members have families. There were 3 of us there all day and as the day went on more showed up and some stayed for a pack or two and it was still well worth the time.
As usual JDMBuck was a part of the actual car show with his tricked out Honda Civic Hatch and the rest of us watched the booth and drifted. The show was a smaller show but well worth it. The fine ladies from Phat Ephex were at this show as well and did another shoot with our tiny little cars.
Nothing much different from the last show but it was definitely for a good cause. It was a show to help keep Endless Motoring out there and tuning our imports.
Well I thought we would never get to this point but here we are. Channel 31 Good Day Sacramento did a piece on us. The whole thing was fun. We showed up at the Channel 13/31 building around 6:30 and set up. About an hour later the news people gave us the heads up that they would be out in a few minutes. The crew in attendance was just enough, as it seems we might have been pushing it with more members. The cameraman and anchor Nick Toma came out and started the news story. It seems that when we showed up there was a breaking story that they needed to cover, so we didn’t get as much time as we thought. No big. Justsidewayz was interviewed while we all drifted the track and Justsidewayz brought Nick up to speed (No pun intended) as to what it was all about. At the end Nick decided to try one of the drift cars out just once to see what drifting involved. He proceeded to spin in place 3 times and hit the wall. After this he gave up. TYLORD attempted to give Nick the 30 second drift lesson as well as could be expected. Great try. We have to face it, anchormen are not nessecarily drift gurus out of the box. It was all done as quickly as it started but it was great to get some airtime. Thanks to Nick, his cameraman and the rest of Channel 31 for giving us a bit of their time and airplay. Also thanks to the group for putting on a great show. I don’t think it could have gone better.

Well the 14th went by like a tornado hitting a trailer park (chuckles under breath). We didn’t have a whole lot of time to prepare for doing an exhibition for a car show but we pulled it off. First I would like to thank JDMBuck and the hosts of the show for getting us in and letting us run. Allthough we only had three parking spots to do our exhibition I would say that the session went off without a hitch. A good amount of the crew showed up to help out and the feel of the meet was hyper-stimulating to say the least. I am still recovering as I would think the others are as well.
The whole thing was an awesome experience and we recieved more publicity than we have ever gotten at any of our sessions.
Justsidewayz, Datsun710 and myself (MCtrlSys) showed up around 7:30 in the morning to set up and make sure we had a spot to reside in. The overhead and the track went up quick and I would say that the cars started to come in about 8am. The amount of and quality of the cars that came in were awesome. Unlike a typical muscle-car show the kinds of cars that came in ranged from Dodge V8-12 cylinder units to 1 cylinder powered bicycles. Also adorning the cars were a handful of models brought in from a number of areas for the photo-shoots and4-5 “go-go dancers” doing their thing up at the front end of the lot. Very unlike our normal practices in the parks and
schoolyards.
Once we were all set up we started to drift the track we had set up in the minimal space we had been given. It was difficult but not impossible. As the show went on more and more people would stand outside of the track watching. Not only kids (although sometimes they are the most devoted to watching) but a number of adults stood at the side of the track for long periods of time as well. In fact we had a number of photographers taking pictures watching and taking pictures with everything from small compact cameras to full professional setups. This wasn’t the scenario of somebody stopping for a minute and commenting how “cute” they look. This was utter fascination. TYLORD came in about half was through the session to drop of some DriftRC Magazines and some drift stickers to hand out. Thank you TYLORD. It filled out out front display table and furthered the interest.
W
e attempted to keep the track from becoming to chaotic during the
show but that worked about as well as it always does. By the time we were really into it there were 5 cars on the postage stamp sized track at once. One of us tried to keep the display table manned as much as possible and there were a great deal of questions to answer. Most of all was the, “How much does it cost to get into this?”. As always that answer is never quite as simple as it may have seemed. Introducing a bunch of hardcore tuners to something this technically intricate was probably like throwing meat to Hyenas but we enjoyed the hell out of it.
As
time went on and all of the cars settled in we found out how amazing the turnout really was. They had crammed hundreds of cars into this little parking lot. Teams and individuals from a number of areas had shown up to show off their cars. Most of the cars were of the JDM persuasion but there were a number of American and European manufactured cars as well. Nissan 240sx, S15, S13, 300ZXs, Infinity G35s, Lexus SC430, IS300s, Mazda RX-7 (FD-3S), RX8, Toyota Sprinters, Matrix (No Supras though), Dodge Vipers, SRT4s, Datsun 510s, BMW M3 GTR, Honda Civics, Accords, Acura Integras (Of course), and the list goes on.
I
think the highlight of the day was when DoinItMovin707 retrieved for us a group of the models onsite to pose with our cars. He seems to be the only one with the suave to do it. Thanks dude. We had two groups of models during the day pose with our cars so that we had something to brag about till the end of time. All I have to say is that we had some very happy RCs that day. Thankfully most of us have very supportive and understanding wives. Thanks ladies. Oh and a big thank you to the models who thought enough of us to pose with our tiny little cars. (No thats not a joke)
Overall
we finished our outing at around 4pm and packed up our stuff. The exhibition that we put on was a total success in my eyes. We were able to interact and explain what we did to a great number of people. The vibe at that place was incredible. The people were awesome and we enjoyed the whole process more than we could possibly ever describe. Being totally immersed in car culture while bringing our own little piece of it to the crowd was more than we could have ever hoped for and we hope to have the chance to do it all again.

Hey, Welcome to the blog for 1:TEN Sacramento Drift Network. We have been down for a while but it has been reactivated. It has been around a year since the inception of what would be 1:TEN-S.D.N. and we just made it through our first big event. The event consisted of a competition some practice time and lots and lots of hanging out in a park on a great cool day and relaxing. This meet although we did have our first competition was more symbolic and less serious. There were trophies to be had and respect to be earned.
The old Drift 916 site is gone now as after the name change and all of the upgrades that have happened I figured it was time to start over. We are now 1:TEN - S.D.N. (Sacramento Drift Network). I also cut out the tech site as it has been absorbed into the forum. Moving our site from Drifter Central to here was a bit of work but it went better than we could have hoped for. We lost some of our contacts due to the move but gained a bunch more in the process.
The site itself has been divided into three parts for now. The Blog (Our main page which is meant for the rest of the universe), Our Forum (Meant for the members to meet and exchange information) and Chat (Meant for the same as the Forum but is actually meant to take some of the stress off of the forum). So far it all seems to be working just fine.
On this site you will see what we do and who we are. If you decide to stay then you will have to go to http://drift916.5gigawattlizard.info/forum/ and register. After this is done you must introduce yourself on the Introductions Forum at which point we will activate your account. This process keeps spammers out and makes sure that only those in the area are using the space. Its not that we don’t want to hear from others it is just too much for the forum to handle if we let everyone in.
On that note Please enjoy the site and we hope that you will find RC Drift appealing enough to start the hobby for yourself.

Ok, we had our first big event recently which was held at William Land Park in Sacramento. Justsidewayz had gotten the permit well in advance as he had fallen in love with the spot since we first looked at it. It ended up being a very cool spot for drift. There was a good expanse of smooth concrete with a decent amount of grip and a stand on one side that is perfect as a drivers stand. Now get this, there are 2 covered electrical outlets that the city accidentally left unlocked! JOY!

William Landpark, DoinItMovin707, Justsidewayz, Datsun710 and Wallysworld Enjoying Some Practice Time.
So anyway Justsidewayz and a few others showed up before 8am to set up. Justsidewayz brought a leaf blower plus his DJ setup for music while we practiced. As the morning went on the track was set up and people brought food, tables, chairs, tools, electrical cabling and so on. The event was constructed before our eyes as the day went on. Not only did we have an abundance of drivers but their families came as well. In total I would say we had about a good twenty people (drivers and family) before the morning finished.
As the day went on we also gathered some other people who just happened along or were participating in another meeting in the park. It was great to meet people who were interested who had never seen this kind of thing before.
The day was about 60-70 degrees all day and the food was plentiful and good. Mostly burgers and hot dogs although DoinItMovin’s girlfriend prepared what she called Lumpia for the rest of us. Thank you Mercel.
At the end of the day we finally had our competition. It was fun and we all learned something I think. Not only the drivers but the judges as well. Justsideways and MCtrlSys judged the meet. THe competition went fairly smoothly with only a few mechanical stops along the way. At the end of the day the winners were
The winners were driving the following cars. Robsracing was driving a Team Losi XXX-S. Datsun710 was driving an HPI Sprint 2. Finally WallysWorld was racing a Team Associated TC3. Congratulations to all of you. All of the competitors did exceptionally and Justsidewayz and MCtrlSys made symbolic runs for the sake of it. Justsideways came up with a score of 17 and MCtrlSys a 2. Since they were judging they refrained from competing.
MCtrlSys also spent alot of his time doing maintenance for the competitors on the sidelines. Fortunately we were able to pull off the competition with only minor pauses.
Overall the day went better than anyone had expected. All of the conditions couldn’t have been better and it was a great time. We hope to do it again sometime in the near future.
